Dear Photograph

I really like this idea - Dear Photograph.
I might look through my photos to see if I can find a photo of a place that I can still visit.
It could be a good excuse to take a holiday to Western Australia.
Or Tasmania.
Or England!!!

Snowflakes

Many years ago I found this website that showed how to fold paper to make snowflakes. Today, I decided to do it again including the younger kids who had never done it before (or couldn't remember having done it) and an older kid who couldn't resist having a go.

Snowflakes are amazing. Here are some links that I found all those years ago.
A little scientific explanation about snowflakes and snow crystals.
A snow crystal gallery
How to make snowflakes with a lot of links down the side.

PS: I really can't handle seeing 8-pointed snowflakes in winter decorations.

'Sydney' Canvas

I thought "Why not?" when I saw the 'Sydney' Canvas Competition that they're running at the Craft and Quilt Fair in Sydney next week. Being a deadline person, and not accounting for the fact that I would have a significant chunk of time where I wouldn't be able to work on it, I left my artwork to the last minute. Now I have to trust that Australia Post has delivered my parcel in the express manner for which I paid.

You can see my canvas (and vote for it) along with many others that will be displayed in a huge canvas mosaic at the fair.

'Love Sydney Like Crazy'.
Sydney Morning Herald, gel medium, acrylic paint (with paintbrush, masks, stencils, Posca paint pen, and the edge of a credit card), tissue paper, matchsticks, Swarovski crystals.

:D

P.S. You can see all the entries here.

Hudson and Moses

I've been having fun putting layouts together using Nic Howard's Cluster Embellishing class as my starting point inspiration. Here is the latest. - a photo of Hudson holding Moses.

For a change I decided to have some 3D effects with the photo and some of the embellishments. I went outside early this morning to take a photo of the layout but the shadows were too long so I left it to take closer to midday. Then I forgot so ended up taking the photo with longer shadows in the afternoon. Ignore the tuft of dried grass at the bottom of the photo!!!
I really enjoy working with all the Basic Grey stuff - it's so easy to put together.

We interrupt this programme...

...to bring you a spot of pink.

There's only a short amount of time goes by until I just have to to something in pink. So here it is. My latest cluster embellished page featuring Caitlin looking cold at Colo River. The kids were determined they were going to swim in the river despite the wintery temperatures. Brrrrrr!

:D

Around the yard today.

What you might find:
Fruit: one passionfruit, measly mulberries, kumquats (I think), mandarins hanging over the fence.
An insect
A weed
Red flowers
Pink flowers
Parsley
Pinecone things
Fences
and a rusty gate latch with padlock
